The Center operates a one acre urban permaculture garden and 3 acre market farm, called Indian Creek Farm. We sell at farmers markets, to grocery stores and coops, to restaurants, and to universities. We also provide garden related workshops and run an apprenticeship program focusing on gardening and farming, but also including healing arts and sustainable living.
Small organic farm. Currently raising swine.
Transitional organic veggies, flowers, herbs for direct to consumer sales.
We have been growing specialty cut flowers, culinary herbs, bedding plants and specialty vegetables for the last 21 years. We sell our products at various farmers markets and to local restaurants and businesses. We also do 35-40 weddings per year. We are year-round growers with a concentration on winter production of salad greens and micro-greens.
Our operation is currently centered on rehabilitating a conventionally farmed field, which we intend to transition to organic practices. We grow a variety of flowers and vegetables on three acres of a larger field which has been intensively cover-cropped using organic practices for the past few years. We also operate a small free-range chicken and duck egg market from our home in Spencer.
Have a large and small greenhouse. In the large greenhouse we produce certified organic tomatoes. In the small greenhouse we grow hydroponic lettuce and organic cucumbers. In this same greenhouse through the winter months we also grow tomatoes for a winter crop. We raise and sell our own pork and beef which is all natural. We use no growth promotants, no hormones, no GMO’s. We also grow sweet corn which is a seasonal item.
I am in the process of developing a farm/market operation. At this point we do nothing more than garden for ourselves. I have to learn how to produce consistently and in quantity.

Zen Sheep Farm is a family owned and operated certified organic livestock farm that raises organic lamb, sheep, beef and organic wool products. We have been certified organic since 1996 and have been farming organically since 1984. We also raise and sell organic vegetables including organic garlic, one of our specialties. Our farm practices sustainable organic agricultural methods with approximately 20 tons of certified organic compost produced every year for our fields and gardens. Our organic lambs and livestock are all pasture raised and fed certified organic grains and hay. All feed is formulated and mixed right on the farm, and all organic hay is raised on our own fields. With most lamb products coming from outside the country, we have a truly small carbon footprint for our farm products which come all the way from Putnam Co., IN! Our wool products include yarn, rovings and battings all made from organic wool. One of our new products are pillows stuffed with organic wool. The pillows come in three different sizes (travel, standard bed and queen bed). Great for a good nights’ sleep! We sell our lamb and wool products in many different health food stores throughout most of Indiana and Michigan. Additionally the farm sells individual cuts of lamb as well as whole and half lambs with custom cutting and free delivery. See our web site for more information: www.ZenSheepFarm.com
We grow annuals, native perennial ferns, herb plants, vegetable plants, dried herbs, fruit from our plants, tropical houseplants, cacti and succulents, annual and perennial vines, hardy bulbs and tropical bulbs, fruit plants, and many more. We will grow on contract for farmers who have no heated greenhouse in late winter.
My main business is shipping chile pepper, sweet pepper, tomato and tomatillo plants in May and June. I sell container chile plants the rest of the season as well as fresh chiles, powders and ristras. We love for customers to visit our greenhouse and say hi to our chickens, sheep and llama. We are hoping to add a store in the future with local products and chile items.

GROWN IN TOWN FARMSTEAD (formally Rastazumska Productions) is part of an urban farm in Bloomington with a newly planted mini-orchard, berry patches, and extensive garden beds. We are located on an acre of land on the near south side of town. We produce naturally grown (chemical free) produce including: beans, peas, peanuts, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, herbs, garlic, hot and exotic chilies, blueberries, sunflowers, and wildflowers. We enrich our soil with an “urban compost” using food scraps from local restaurants mixed with rabbit manure and straw. We encourage families to visit and to learn more about growing food efficiently in urban settings.
Products are available from our farm and periodically at the Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market. Please phone or e-mail for local delivery or pick-up.
The Local Growers Guild is a cooperative of farms, retailers, and community members dedicated to strengthening the local food economy in southern Indiana through education, direct support, and market connections.
We create a local foods system that provides quality food to communities through direct markets and retailers; preserves the viability of family farms; improves the quality of life for growers; makes food issues visible; and promotes practices that preserve and protect the Earth.
